Sprains
SPRAINS
The injury is called a sprain when ligaments around a joint are overstretched or torn. The injured joint becomes painful and swollen.
Follow the RICE treatment:
R - Rest. Place the victim in the most comfortable position.
I - Ice. Apply a cold compress or an icepack over the bandage for 10 minutes.
C - Compression. Support the joint with a firm bandage.
E - Elevation. Raise the injured part to reduce the swelling.
