OLD PUG

Six members of the Troop join to make a line, by placing hands on the waists of the Scouts in front of them. The rest of the Troop is spread around the hall.

The object of the game is for the line to protect the last members of the line (OLD PUG) from being hit by the ball that is being passed around by the other Troop members spread around the hall. You cannot move with the ball. When OLD PUG is hit, that Scout drops off the line and joins the other Troop members spread around the hall. The Scout who hit OLD PUG joins the line at the front of it and the game recommences.

An active game to be played for 5 - 10 minutes.

FIND THE PLATE

Players sit in a large circle. One from each Patrol is blindfolded and given a stave. On the floor, somewhere in the circle, is an enamel plate. The blindfolded players have to find the plate by tapping on the floor with the staves and by directions (hot or cold) from the other Patrol members, and get the plate back to the Patrol's position.

SCRAMBLE

Each Patrol is in its corner and equi-distant from a circle placed in the centre of the hall. Place two (2) less objects than there are Scouts in the centre. On a signal, all rush to secure ONE object each and return to their corners. Scouts who miss out drop out of the game. Replace objects, remove two more and give signal again. Remaining Scouts join in the scramble. The procedure is repeated with less and less objects until either a Patrol is eliminated or you are down to two Scouts and one object.

RING THE STICK

You need two broomsticks or similar, one rubber quoit and two teams. Set up court. Each team has a goalie (who can be changed after each score) which is located at the opposite end to their team. The goalie stands on a chair with the broomstick. They are situated in no-man's land. The rest of the team are in formation similar to basketball. The rubber quoit is thrown up between two centres to start. The object is to pass the quoit among their own team so as to get it up to the goal area for the goalie to catch it with the broomstick. The goalie can only assist to the extent of moving the stick to the best position, but can't get off the chair. When a score is made, teams return to their basketball type position and the quoit is thrown in again.
